Green Sky Renewables recently completed a significant solar PV project in partnership with Jigsaw Housing Association, our sister company DLP Services, and leading manufacturers Wienerberger and Sandtoft. This project demonstrates the power of collaboration in creating more energy-efficient homes and lifting communities out of fuel poverty.
Jigsaw Housing Association engaged DLP Services to carry out re-roofing works across a substantial portion of their property portfolio. With new roofs on the horizon, Green Sky Renewables was brought in to deliver the solar installations—an essential component in their commitment to sustainability and tenant wellbeing.
Each installation involved a methodical approach: DLP Services removed the existing tiles, felt, and battens before installing new materials to prepare for the solar integration. Green Sky then installed large PV arrays on each home, connected to Solax inverters. Tenants can monitor their system’s performance via a user-friendly app, giving them real-time insights into their energy generation and usage.
Every system not only meets but exceeds the standards set out by the Microgeneration Certification Scheme (MCS), ensuring long-term performance and compliance. These upgrades have significantly boosted the EPC (Energy Performance Certificate) ratings of the properties, supporting Jigsaw in meeting current regulatory requirements.
Each property now benefits from a fully integrated solar PV system, designed to maximise both performance and aesthetics. By using Wienerberger and Sandtoft’s integrated roofing solutions, which are specifically developed to complement their tile systems, we were able to streamline the installation process. This not only saved on roofing materials but also delivered a sleek, visually pleasing finish that blends seamlessly with the new roofs.
The results are already making a difference. Tenants now have access to free, clean energy—helping them significantly reduce their electricity bills.
